Swipe a message to the right, or hold it and tap Reply. Tap a quote to jump to the message it quotes; it lights up for a moment. Double-tap a text message to add a heart, and again to take it off. Hold a message for other reactions.
Hold a message, then Copy, or Select text to copy part of it. The copy stays on this phone, never on your other devices, and is cleared after 60 seconds (sooner in Hardened or Travel). Links, phone numbers and email addresses can be tapped. SILNT shows the whole address first and asks before it opens, calls or emails.
Hold a text you sent, then Edit. You can edit a message for 15 minutes after you send it, up to 10 times, unless someone joined the chat since. It then shows Edited. Someone on an older version of SILNT keeps the original text.
Swipe a message to the left, or hold it, then Delete. Delete for me removes it from this phone only. Delete for everyone works on your own messages for 2 days and 12 hours after you send them and leaves “This message was deleted” in their place. A phone with an out-of-date or modified SILNT keeps its copy. Payments and requests can't be deleted. Deleting a chat, leaving a group or deleting a contact removes that chat from this phone; the others keep theirs.
In the + menu, choose View-once photo or video. They can open it once, then it is deleted from their phone. A photo can close itself after 5, 10 or 30 seconds; a video plays once. You see Opened when they have. iPhone gives apps no way to block a screenshot. SILNT hides it while the screen is recorded or mirrored, but someone can still keep a copy with a screenshot on some phones, another camera or a modified app. An older version of SILNT shows a line asking them to update instead.
Hold a message, then Forward, and pick a chat. The copy is marked Forwarded and does not say who first wrote it. View-once messages, payments, requests and photos or files you received with a request can't be forwarded.
Hold a message, then Pin. Everyone in the chat sees it in the strip at the top; tap it to jump there. The magnifying glass at the top of a chat searches its messages on this phone only. Scrolled up? Jump to latest takes you back down and counts what arrived.
In another app, tap Share, then SILNT, then Save. You can share text, a link, up to 10 photos and videos, or one file, each up to 60 MB. Then open SILNT, pick a chat under Send to and confirm. Saved items wait on this phone for 24 hours; Discard deletes them sooner. An item that couldn't send is offered again.
In the + menu, Photo with a request or File with a request sends the photo or file with a payment request. It opens for them at once; paying is up to them.
